We help institutions to reach the next level of innovation with a free training format. Renowned innovation experts train employees of your institution in a long-term series of workshops. The first workshop period is between January and May 2021.

The next workshop dates will take place in Q4 2021. A detailed workshop schedule with the corresponding content will follow shortly.

The first workshop on MEGATRENDS took place on January 29, 2021.

  • What is the Innovation Gym?

The Innovation Gym is a recurring free and new training series for companies and organisations primarily from the region Ostwesfalen-Lippe. Professional innovation consultants teach current trends and developments in the field of innovation promotion, know-how on innovations as well as methods and instruments for the implementation of the creative process in sequential workshops.

  • Why was it developed?

In today's world it is more important than ever for companies and organisations to remain successful and to adapt to the developments of the respective market. To be innovative is an important goal for many companies and organisations, but often the know-how in the form of qualified employees is missing. This is where the Innovation Gym comes in: Our training format will make your organisations more innovative and trains professionals for you in the field of innovation.

Open Innovation City aims to make Bielefeld one of the most innovative regions in Europe. Therefore, the promotion of institutions with a format such as the Innovation Gym is for us one of our main tasks within the project.

  • When does the Innovation Gym take place?

The workshop dates are from January to May 2021. A detailed workshop schedule with the corresponding contents will follow here shortly. The Innovation Gym will take place four times during the project term: In the first half of 2021, the second half of 2021, the first half of 2022 and the second half of 2022, so we can offer as many organisations as possible the opportunity to participate.

  • What does the Innovation Gym teach?

The participants learn tools and methods to support the process of innovation development and establishment in their own organisation. Furthermore, existing innovation processes from their own daily work will be analysed and developed further with the help of professional inputs.

The aim in the individual workshop sessions is to convey a basic framework of the innovation process and to develop, conceptualise and validate the idea of an innovation in the further workshop sessions. At the end of the workshop series, participants will pitch their idea and take it to their own company/organisation for implementation.

  • Who can attend the Innovation Gym?

The Innovation Gym is aimed at experts and executives with innovation responsibility from companies and organisations in the Ostwesfalen-Lippe region. The participants can come from different areas, whether economy, administration, science, research or business development. It is not relevant whether they come from a business enterprise, a foundation, an association or another initiative. Only consulting service providers are excluded from participation.

In the composition of the participants, it is important to create a very heterogeneous group, in which old can learn from young, large from small and innovative from those who have not yet been very innovative. Therefore, the training format is aimed at small companies/organisations with few employees and little know-how in the field of innovation processes as well as at large corporations. In the spirit of open innovation, it is our aim that everyone can learn from everyone else and thus, the best possible result for everyone is achieved.

Each organisation can participate with one or two people (we recommend two representatives). Thus, the maximum number of participants per training series is approx. 40 participants. When selecting participants, the regional focus is another decisive factor in the application process. Should two organisations with a similar project orientation apply, we reserve the right to select the organisations with a closer regional orientation to Bielefeld, based on the framework of our project orientation.

  • How does the application process work?

The application deadline for participation in the 1st half of 2021 is 9 December 2020. Please submit your application using the form below within the deadline. We will provide you with feedback by the end of 2020 as to whether your institution has been considered for the Innovation Gym and, if so, what the next steps for participation will be.

  • How will the event be held?

Due to the current Corona situation, we plan to conduct the workshop series both interactively in digital form and to switch to a face-to-face workshop if the situation changes. Compliance with the applicable guidelines and the health of all participants are particularly important to us.
